July 26th – Good Good Good, Good Donations

1999:  I slept right through until half four this morning, when I woke up in my own bed and was alive and kicking.  Mum still wanted to sleep and after several disruptions to her shut eye she shut her bedroom door in my face. Charming!  By the time she got up – 45 minutes later – we were back on talking terms.  I jumped in mum’s water and drank all her tea (except 3 mouthfuls which she’d managed to swig before I got my mitts on it – gonna have to speed up my tactics). Went to Edons and when mum picked me up she had a tricycle for me which one of her staff had kindly donated to our cause!  Mummy let me ride it out front for a while and then we went round to the back where I found her a lovely feather (the first of her collection) and it wasn’t long before the hose pipe came out.  I surprised mum by counting to twelve in the bath tonight, following which we both fell asleep on my bed at 7.15

2019:  A long drive from Lowestoft in Suffolk in Bala to Wales ready for my Snowdon run,  Staying in the home of a musician through Airb&b. The alarm is set for 4.40am. The day has come round so quickly and I am soo literally nervous and I have no idea why. I have absolutely smashed my fundraising target which currently stands at at £685 towards Crohns and Colitis UK, and now to absolutely smash this mountain.  Hopefully gonna be setting off at 6 am tomorrow and provided all goes well i’ll be returning at some point before 10 am. This is more nerve racking than when I was waiting to go for surgery. Time to show the world that us people with chronic, invisible illness are the most strongest physically and mentally set people! I’m not just doing this for me, but my friends, family and everyone in the invisible illness community. Thank yo to everyone who donated and thank you to my family who have come along with me  to be waiting at the end with a long, stiff drink!

April 3rd From Mischievous to Lazy Days

1999:  Hot cross buns and chocolate Easter eggs for breakfast.  I love Easter (and so does mum by the looks of it!).  We went swimming this morning and had a lovely ‘dim’ for an hour.  I got out of the pool okay, but mum had to fight to get me out of the lovely warm shower.  We set off for a walk to the local shop this afternoon and arrived back home an hour and a half later! On the way, we had decided to explore the alley way opposite our house thinking we could cut through to the shops, but it turned out that it led to the other end of our road (a dead end) and we had to walk all the way back again and start over.  Nice one mum.  I did find a great stick though and took it all the way to the shops and back – even though it was nearly as big as me.  Amongst my antics I hit someone’s car with the stick, pulled someone’s parking chain off the hook on their drive, tried to climb the street lamps, stopped and waved at all the cars and touched all the traffic cones as we went past the roadwork’s.  Once home I went out in the garden and discovered that I could use mums clothes horse to climb up my slide.  Mum keeps going very pale today.  Think I’ll have to keep an eye on her – she might be sickening for something

2019:  Got into Zofs parents late last night from Stansted. No antics today just lazing around and trying to acclimatise. Looking forward to heading back to our flat tonight  but not so much work tomorrow

March 31st – From River Mud to Thermal Spa’s. South Woodham to Budapest

1999:  Mum didn’t seem too enthusiastic this morning – she muttered something about not having to be to work until 9.00 today.  Great – more time to play then. After half an hour of kisses (eleven to be precise), pulling off the covers and shouting “up”, jumping on the bed and clambering all over her, she eventually decided to get up!  Went to Edon’s for a little while and then Nan picked me up.  I was very pleased to see her, and when we got home Bomper was there too.  We went for a walk over the river to see all the boats – and the mud!  Then we went to Asda and had lunch there (actually in the restaurant this time!) Pa and I had great fun playing in the garden – we built ramps for my cars and a ramp, which I walked along pretending to be a tight ropewalker. Have been a bit boulchy today (so they say) and ended it by smacking mum in the face.  The next I knew I was whisked home and put to bed, with milk, but no story.  I was tired anyway.  See if I care.

2019: Happy Mothers day from Budapest. Have facetimed mum a couple of times from this amazing city and told her to bin off anything else she has booked and come here! Have spent the day at the thermal baths and spas (after running back for my trunks) and had an amazing day. Mums really into all the organic and natural health stuff so lets see if this has settled my crohns.

March30th – Exploring Budapest

1999:  Decided I wanted a calm morning, so instead of getting into mum’s bed and making her sheets wet, I stood by the bed and told her I was wet.  At Edon’s we had to go shoe shopping for the kids.  Isn’t it bad enough that I have to do this with my mother?!  When mum picked me up, I had vest and trousers on as had been running around playing with the others and was very hot.  Also told mum I had a bad head.  When we were playing, Dan had fallen over backwards and fallen right onto my head. Ouch!  That hurt.  No real damage done though.  Mum managed to get me home with the temptation of seeing Action Man.  After quite a search we found him in my bed.

2019: We arrived in Budapest last night, after eventually clearing security at Stansted – Zof had scissors in her make up bag in hand luggage and so ensued a full search. Upon emptying the bag during the search, we both realised we had left our swimming costumes at home so bought some at the airport. Had a great day on the Hop on Hop off (ironic with my ankle) bus around the city, exploring, eating and drinking

February 8th – Changing Plans with Potty Training and Crohns

1999:  I think it must be mum’s funny time of month again, she’s not been herself the past day or two, and today was no better.  Oh joy!  Another week of impatience, shouting and not being able to do anything right.  Mum had a shower whilst I drank my milk in her bed and when she came back in for cuddles realised that me and the bed were soaked for the second morning running.  We were a bit behind today and a bit rushed to get out the door.  I thought it was great fun to avoid the shoes and coat, but mum didn’t hold out too well with that game.  We got to Edon’s just as they were about to leave for school, so I went straight in the buggy.  When mummy went I screamed and sobbed, I think I saw a tear in mummy’s eye as she walked away.  We went to the doctors tonight as I keep saying ‘I’m ‘ot’ and have a gooey nose and eyes.  Now got nasal drops and antibiotics.  We made dinner together, we had good fun, and I pricked the sausages and then pretended to peel a potato with my plastic knife and then threw it around the kitchen.

2019: Over to Zof’s tonight after work as going to set up joint account tomorrow and speak to estate agents about rental property. How things change. This time last year I was recovering from a fungal infection in my blood and sepsis. I planned to go away for a year to Australia, had my visa and my flights booked for May. Crohns had other ideas as I was rushed in to hospital a week before my flight and had to stay here to have surgery in July. And then I met Zof. We cannot travel currently as still not medically fit but there’s always time.
