June 10th – Childhood and Adulthood with Chronic Illness

1999: Not too bright this morning.  Edon took me to the doctors as mum thought it was time for me to go.  Have got a chest infection and sore ears so antibiotics it is.  Didn’t stop me from having fun though – we went to the park with a picnic but I was so hyper I didn’t even eat.  I fell off one of the climbing frames, and now have a lovely asphalt mark on my head and my knee, but I bounced back up and carried on. Mum picked me up at four.  I gave her big cuddles and did my Oscar winning performance of illness.  Well it’s confirmed – the doctor says so.  When we got home I laid on the settee with my sick blanket and bottle and by half four had fallen asleep!  Woke up at 5.30 wanting a drink and wee.  Mum was very pleased with me but she wasn’t quite so pleased at 6.30 when she lifted me up to go to bed and found the settee soaking wet.

2019:  From one chronic illness to another (although asthma now cleared) Have decided on my fundraising course up and down Snowdon. The PYG will be my ascent and I will descend on the miners track and aiming to get it all done in under 4 hours. @crohnsand colitisuk is a huge charity for me and I have raised £155 of my £1000 pound target so far. Just have to hope I’m not in a flare up and don’t need to poo au naturale

I may do stupid things and make light of them but deep down there’s a reason and I love exploration, even if I cannot fully understand the outcome!
