May 22nd – Garden Sun and Hospital Fun

1999:  Up at 7.15 which I thought was pretty reasonable as its Saturday.  Mum got up but fell asleep on the settee and didn’t wake up until nine!  We had bacon sarnies again and then mum went to pack the swimming bag but when she came down I’d changed my mind and decided I didn’t want to go.  It’s sunny and I want to play in the garden instead.  Mum got the paddling pool out and everything went in it!  Uncle Teddy rang and a little while later and we all went to the Farm and had a great time.   I had an afternoon nap and mummy woke me just in time to see the last few minutes of the F.A. Cup Final – Man U won.  I have found some spy holes in the garden fence and Emma next door and I have a great laugh looking through them.  Mum did some digging and I did the watering, we both had to have a bath afterwards because we were so mucky.  We watched Uncle Teddy on video from a TV show he’d done and I wanted to cuddle him and talk to him so mum rang him but he wasn’t in.  I was very upset but I did wave goodbye to him on the TV and then went to bed.

2019:  Well hopefully mum got a better nights sleep last night than she did a year ago when she was sat with me all night at the hospital until the found me a bed on the ward. I was ok.  I was on the trolley and loving the morphine by the early hours (and still determined to travel the following week!) One year on, I cant believe how far I have come and how much has changed. But I’m sure I still give mum sleepless nights

I may do stupid things and make light of them but deep down there’s a reason and I love exploration, even if I cannot fully understand the outcome!
